The way we practiced law drastically shifted during the height of the pandemic.
Meetings went virtual, and you may have found yourself chatting with clients while sporting your favorite yoga pants (unbeknownst to them, of course!) E-signatures became the norm, and you harnessed the power of organizing files digitally.
And while you didn’t go to law school to get a degree in technology, you found yourself mastering various facets little by little as quarantine life paraded on. You learned how to navigate unknown terrain and conquered it successfully while emerging with a new set of skills.
Working from home was a perk that the pandemic handed to us. However, despite the change in scenery, you still found yourself tied to a demanding schedule that put your career before your personal priorities.
But, what would happen if you took the skills you’ve learned over the past two years and began applying them in a way that would allow you to put your family and your personal life first?
Why Building a Flexible Law Firm Makes Sense
If you’ve been dreaming of a way to visit your bucket list of travel destinations before you retire, if you’ve wanted to volunteer on the PTA and participate in your children’s classroom events but never saw a realistic way to do so, you may be surprised to learn that your opportunity to start making that happen is already there. And if there’s to be any silver lining from the pandemic, it’s the fact that it’s made it 10x easier for you to make it happen.
Still scratching your head trying to discern what the heck I’m talking about?
I’m talking about building your OWN law firm online. I’m talking about building a flexible business that allows you to have the time freedom that you and your family are craving while also bringing in the financial security that you need AND have been dreaming about.
The pandemic has opened doors both on the business side of things as well as on the client side. Clients are now accepting and understanding of an online based business. They’re completely happy to conduct meetings via zoom, and allow the once in-person necessities to now be handled by things like HelloSign or ClickUp. Which means you now have more space to build a business that works for you rather than the other way around. And one (if you don’t mind me adding) that has the potential to gain traction fast.
Instead of waking up to that dreadful alarm and having to drop your baby off at daycare, you could be spending the mornings with them snuggling up in bed. You could choose to take the past 2 years of learning new systems and becoming a Zoom sensei to propel your dreams rather than that of someone else’s. By building your own flexible law firm, you could decide what your income is. You could decide what types of clients you could see and you could decide when you want to see them. You could become your own boss. You just have to decide to do so.
Nervous about getting started? That’s completely normal and I hope you don’t let that stop you. Read on about overcoming your fear of launching your firm here.
